Point 2 A-Gain

B2B W13: 90/250, , 0 stairs
B2B W12 WI: +.2 lbs
Total Weight Loss: -12.8lbs
Current Weight: 259.0lbs

Sad thing is, I'm not even annoyed. I'm resigned. I don't know why I'm skirting the 5% goal line. Honestly, I think it's in my mind.

I'm sure someone out there would say that I'm eating something wrong. However, let me assure you that I'm tracking every morsel. This week I had 21 AP's and 11 flex points left. I eat 6-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day. I'm exercising. I just don't know what this is about.

Please don't say the old "maybe it's muscle." I'm not buying it.

I really believe I have an internal resistance to reaching weight loss goals. I thought I could sneak by it by reaching fitness goals, but it's having a face off with me. It's not relenting.

WHAT IS IT?!!!!!

In the first 6 weeks I lost 12.4lbs. In the second 6 weeks I lost .4lbs. Anyone see anything wierd here? At least I'm losing.

Well, this is good. I'm now frustrated. AHHHHH!

In better news, I'm only 60 minutes away from reaching the Back to Basics Challenge exercise minutes goal. It's been one hell of a ride!

  1. I feel for you! I can only tell you my own experience, which is that WL is elusive and non-linear. It's good to examine your psyche once in a while, but you can also drive yourself crazy thinking that you're somehow sabotaging the plan. Maybe you're not; maybe you're doing everything "right", but it's just very darned hard to do. That's what all the "stick with it" advice is for; there are going to be weeks and even months when it doesn't work the way you want, and you've got to be mentally prepared to get through them.

I finally realized that it's not necessarily ME when I started reading fitness blogs instead of WL blogs. Here are a bunch of people who already are in shape--great shape-- who eat healthfully, who don't have disorders or baggage or anything, and even THEY have a hard time losing weight. Even they struggle with a measly five pounds.

It's just plain hard to do. So give yourself a pat on the back for what you've accomplished, and learn to be enthusiastic but relaxed about continuing the journey.

And then teach me how you managed it! :-)

  2. Marla, you are so right:-) That's the reason I built the challenges around things that were completely within my control. So that I could see that I really was doing my part to lose the weight. Achieving the minute goals and seeing the stars have been great in keeping me going. It's the part that's helping me to stick to it.

For yesterday, I was frustrated with the lack of movement on the scale.

For today, I'm back to anticipation over the next challenge to start strength training and getting to 10 laps around the track. That would be a huge accomplishment!

It's a beautiful day and I'm going for a walk around Shelly Lake with DBF:-)

  3. So I had the same exact problem. I lost around 9 or 10lbs the first 10 weeks of the challenge and the last two weeks, have gained around 3 of them back. So I put away the scale and decided I'd trust my own intuition in regards to my eating and my exercise. There are two things that were going on in my body:
    1. My body was being forced to accept a new set point and with our natural tendencies towards homeostasis or equilibrium, was resisting this change and rebelling by gaining. So I accepted that I would allow my body to ease slowly into the new weight range and lose at its own pace. In that respect, you should be grateful your body is still losing.
    2. I was self-sabotaging. You may not be doing this at all; but I was allowing my eating/emotional well-being to be invested in the scale reading each morning. So I put away my scale to say I will not let a weight that could be a random fluctuation, determine my eating pattern and feed into my own food neuroses.

Those are the two things that I can tell you abou tmy own experience. Hope that helps.

  4. I know exactly how you feel! I have had a few blips with food, but on the whole been very good, and have ridden 545km on my bike this month, yet right now my total loss is looking like it will be less than half a kilo. I don't know why, but I understand your frustration.

  5. I'm going through this right now. I talked to my brother the other day, he lost 100 lbs. He told me to keep with it.

My body wants to still be 320 and has to deal that I'm not. Once it does then the weight will start coming off. Consistency is the key...Don't Stop!

He was right. After 2 months, I'm starting to significant loss again!

Hope you have a great weekend!

  6. WOAH I think you're doing awesome though, sticking to your exercise plans and tracking your food without fail. Are you seeing changes elsewhere than the scale?? If you are, maybe you should really put away the scale for a bit.
